15 Totally Awesome 80′s T Shirts

The economy was booming from a debt-laden, deficit-spending President. Cocaine was awesome, the Chicago Bears were awesome, and so was Charlie Sheen. And the music – that’s maybe an entire page in and of itself…

I often wonder if the 80′s seem as amazing to the those who lived through them as young adults as they do to those who lived through them as children / adolescents (like I did). But since I was a kid, everything that I experienced was perceived through a lens of innocence and so everything was, well, Awesome! Movies, TV, music, Air Jordans, swimming pools, boom boxes, parachute pants, short shorts, and puberty!

The t shirts were pretty awesome too. In the 80′s a t shirt was just that – a shirt that looked like a “T.” Not many of them even had designs at all unless they were actually sewn into the fabric. The first t shirts resembling anything like the shirts we know today weren’t much more than iron-on pictures that disappointingly flaked off after wearing them every day for a year (my Emperor’s Royal Guard shirt didn’t stand a chance).

We have it so good now. The t shirt technology is probably more advanced than the tech that went into Steve Austin’s bionic eye. And yet we love that technology to produce clothes for us that LOOK like they were produced in the 80′s. And that’s awesome.
